Ecatepec launches community-led road repair program

The municipal government of Ecatepec has expanded its road rehabilitation efforts through the launch of ‘Domingos de Bachetón’ (Bachetón Sundays). This initiative integrates local residents and Citizen Participation Councils into the ‘Reventón de Bachetón Ecatepec 24/7’ program to accelerate the repair of streets and avenues.

Mayor Azucena Cisneros Coss led the first session in Santa María Chiconautla. Simultaneous repair works were also carried out in several areas, including San Cristóbal, Guadalupe Victoria, San Pedro Xalostoc, Santa Clara Coatitla, Santa María Tulpetlac, Santo Tomás Chiconautla, San Isidro Atlautenco, and San Andrés de la Cañada.

The administration reported that approximately 80 percent of the municipality's streets were in a state of deterioration at the start of the current term. To address this, the intensive program utilizes over one thousand workers and public servants. The operation includes 12 daytime crews and 10 additional crews dedicated to night shifts, with personnel receiving specialized training in material application and safety measures.
