Ecatepec launches Rastrillo Social to reclaim public spaces

The government of Ecatepec has launched the ‘Rastrillo Social’ operation in Santa María Tulpetlac to reclaim public spaces and improve mobility and safety for pedestrians and drivers. Part of the ‘Ecatepec sin Mordidas’ platform, the initiative was carried out following requests from local residents.

During the operation, authorities removed obstructions on Las Torres Avenue and Yucatán Street. Notable actions included removing a bed from a sidewalk, clearing recycling materials that blocked transit, and addressing a residential room that had been constructed on a public sidewalk, forcing pedestrians into vehicular lanes.

Multiple municipal departments are participating in the effort, including Urban Development, Public Services, Civil Protection, Mobility, and Citizen Security and Transit.
