Mexico infrastructure: Urban renewal projects advance in Ecatepec and Toluca
Municipal authorities in the State of Mexico are implementing various infrastructure and urban renewal projects. In Ecatepec, Mayor Azucena Cisneros Coss reported that 397 kilometers of roads have been intervened over the last 20 months, including the repair of over 2,400 streets and the filling of 59,000 potholes. A major paving initiative in the San Francisco de Asís neighborhood has completed 42 streets through a collaborative program where the municipality provides materials and residents provide labor. Additionally, the administration inaugurated ‘Safe Paths’ in the La Agüita neighborhood, featuring new street lighting and urban murals to improve security and aesthetics.
In the Adolfo López Mateos delegation, Mayor Ricardo Moreno is overseeing the construction of nine roads using ecological concrete and geocell technology. This project aims to improve mobility and connectivity in the Parques Nacionales neighborhood, addressing infrastructure needs that had been neglected for over 55 years. The use of ecological concrete is intended to optimize material use and create more resilient road surfaces.
