Ecatepec urban infrastructure and revitalization projects

Overview

The government of Ecatepec, led by Mayor Azucena Cisneros Coss, has initiated several public works projects aimed at addressing long-standing urban neglect and infrastructure issues. This investment has expanded water network coverage from 35 percent to 80 percent through the rehabilitation of 71 wells and the construction of the Ciudad Cuauhtémoc Master Tank. The plan also includes the rehabilitation of 444 kilometers of roads and the creation of 305 safe pathways.

Recent progress highlights include the completion of paving projects in the San Francisco de Asís and La Negra neighborhoods using a ‘Mano a Mano’ model, where the municipality provides materials and residents provide labor. In the Tablas del Pozo area, the repaving of Avenida Tunal with hydraulic concrete benefited approximately 12,600 residents. Additionally, the administration has inaugurated ‘Safe Paths’ in the La Agüita neighborhood and completed the repaving of Avenida Verdines, addressing deterioration that had persisted for four decades.
