Ecatepec residents pave street after 28-year wait

Residents of the Benito Juárez Cuarta Sección neighborhood in the Sierra de Guadalupe area of Ecatepec have completed the paving of Tercera Cerrada de Rubén Darío after 28 years of waiting. The project was executed through the ‘Cimientos de Esperanza Mano a Mano’ program, a collaborative model where the municipal government provided all construction materials while local families provided the labor.

The infrastructure work covered 122.5 linear meters and required 882 square meters of hydraulic concrete, including the construction of curbs and sidewalks. A local work committee, primarily composed of women, coordinated the efforts with support from the Citizen Participation Council and the municipal delegation. As part of the urban improvement, residents also planted fruit trees, such as lemon, guava, and níspero, near their homes.

Mayor Azucena Cisneros Coss inaugurated the road, noting that the project was the result of an impressive community effort and emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the government and the people to advance local communities.
