EcoFlow launches STREAM 5000 solar storage system
EcoFlow has introduced the STREAM 5000, a modular home energy storage system designed to bridge the gap between solar energy production and household consumption. The STREAM 5000 features a 5.024 kWh storage capacity and supports up to 5,000 W of solar input, allowing users to connect solar modules directly to a single unit containing the charge controller, storage, and inverter. For users with existing solar installations, the STREAM AC 5000 provides an alternative by connecting to the AC side of the system.
In the realm of smart home energy management, manufacturers like Signify (the company behind Philips Hue) suggest that smart lighting can be optimized for significant power savings. Dimming lights to 70 percent of maximum brightness can reduce consumption by up to 51 percent, while using colors other than white—specifically blue—can reduce energy use by up to 79 percent. Additional efficiency can be achieved through automation, such as coupling lights to sunrise and sunset schedules or using motion sensors to ensure lights are only active when needed.
