Economic cooperation and budget management updates in Romania and Moldova

In Timiș, Romania, the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (CCIA) Timiș, Florica Chiriță, met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Willemijn van Haaften. The discussions focused on expanding economic and commercial ties between Timiș County and the Netherlands, specifically targeting the agriculture and livestock sectors. Key areas for future collaboration include technology transfer, agricultural product processing, and infrastructure development. Planned actions include an online event for the agricultural sector in November and an economic mission scheduled for next year.

In Moldova, President Maia Sandu met with the Turkish Ambassador in Chișinău to discuss bilateral relations and investments. Separately, Parliament President Igor Grosu addressed concerns regarding the projected 2026 budget deficit, which is expected to exceed 23 billion lei. Grosu described the deficit as ‘manageable’ and noted that the government is planning a different approach for the 2027 budget to reduce the imbalance between revenue and expenditure. Recent budget rectifications involve reallocating funds from external projects toward social spending, salaries, and local infrastructure.
