Economic Freedom Fighters launched in The Gambia

Prince Ebrahim Sanyang has officially launched the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), a new political movement in The Gambia. During the launch at the Kairaba Hotel in Banjul, Sanyang presented a six-point agenda aimed at addressing poverty, unemployment, and the rising cost of living.

Key proposals include providing free education and healthcare for all Gambians, as well as monthly payments of D1,500 for citizens aged 60 and older. To combat food insecurity, the EFF plans to establish Freedom Stores for subsidized essentials and a National Food Buffer Stock Company to stabilize prices. The movement also intends to support the agricultural sector through a ‘1 Village 1 Cooperative’ program and the revival of the National Produce Marketing Board.

Sanyang described the movement as a democratic and peaceful alternative that represents all social and economic backgrounds rather than specific ethnic groups or regions. He emphasized the need to create domestic opportunities to prevent young Gambians from attempting perilous irregular migration routes.
