Economic indicators show shifts in UK consumer confidence and Hungarian business climate

Economic indicators in the United Kingdom and Hungary showed varying levels of movement in September. In the UK, the GfK consumer confidence index reached a two-year high, rising to -13. This marks three consecutive months of growth, driven largely by improved views of the broader economy and personal financial situations over the past year. However, the index remains in negative territory, and experts warn that rising inflation, energy, and fuel prices could impact future sentiment.

In Hungary, the GKI business cycle index rose by one point, indicating a slight improvement in the business climate. Most sectors, including industry and trade, reported gains, while business services saw a decline. While businesses showed a slight increase in willingness to expand their workforce, the GKI Consumer Confidence Index stagnated, as consumer assessments of the economic situation over the next 12 months fell slightly.
