Ecopetrol announces major leadership and board restructuring

Ecopetrol is undergoing a significant leadership restructuring involving the departure of several high-level executives and changes to its Board of Directors. The company's board approved changes to its management structure, effective August 30, which include the departure of five key officials. These changes affect several vice-presidencies, including Territorial Transformation and HSE, Administrative and Services, Strategy and New Business, and Refining and Industrial Processes, as well as the Corporate Directorate of Institutional Relations and Communications.

In addition to the corporate-level shifts, leadership changes have been confirmed at subsidiaries including Ocensa, Cenit, and Ecopetrol Brasil. Notable departures include Diana Jiménez (Corporate Director of Institutional Relations and Communications), David Riaño (President of Ocensa), José Vicente Azuero (General Manager of Cenit), and Jorge Andrés Martínez (President of Ecopetrol Brasil).

An extraordinary shareholders' assembly is scheduled for September 15. During this meeting, the government is expected to propose an amendment to the company's bylaws to allow for a broader renewal of the Board of Directors. A single slate of candidates has been proposed for the board, which includes several new names alongside existing members such as Luis Felipe Henao and Ricardo Rodríguez Yee. Currently, the organization is being led by Juan Carlos Hurtado in an acting capacity while a permanent president is sought.
