EcoRodovias awarded 30‑year concession for Minas Gerais highways as Rota da Liberdade schedules extensive road works
EcoRodovias signed a 30‑year concession contract with Brazil’s National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) to manage the BR‑116 and BR‑251 corridors between Minas Gerais and Bahia. The agreement covers 734.9 km of highways and includes a total investment of R$ 13.1 billion, with R$ 7.3 billion earmarked for capacity‑expansion works and R$ 5.8 billion for operation and maintenance.
Meanwhile, the concessionaire Rota da Liberdade announced a series of maintenance and improvement activities on several Minas Gerais routes, including BR‑356, MG‑262 and MG‑329, through June 13. The works involve installing reflective studs, pavement repairs and other conservation tasks, and will be carried out under “Stop‑and‑Go” traffic control. Drivers are advised to expect reduced speeds and possible delays, especially in the Serra da Santa stretch near Itabirito and other sections around Mariana, Acaiaca, Ponte Nova and Urucânia.
Both initiatives reflect ongoing efforts to upgrade the state’s road network, aiming to improve safety, capacity and service quality for the region’s motorists.
