Ecuador and Dominican Republic see mass protests over political and infrastructure demands

Opposition groups in Ecuador have organized street demonstrations and legal actions to pressure the National Electoral Council to rule on a revocation petition against President Daniel Noboa and Vice President María José Pinto. The protests are scheduled for July 8, 11 and 15, aiming to gather at least 5,000 participants and compel a decision within the legally required 15‑day window.

In the Dominican Republic, popular community movements halted commercial, transport and school activities in Licey al Medio and Moca for a 48‑hour strike, demanding the construction of a municipal hospital, road repairs, reliable water supply and upgrades to local schools. After a largely peaceful protest, organizers gave the government a 30‑day deadline to commit to concrete actions, warning of larger future demonstrations if their demands are not met.
