Ecuador banana sector to host Guayaquil 2026 technical forum

The Association of Banana Exporters of Ecuador (AEBE) has announced the Banana Time Guayaquil 2026 forum, scheduled for October 28–30 in Guayaquil. The event aims to address critical challenges in the sector, including productivity, climate change, plant health, and international market requirements.

This announcement follows a period of growth for the Ecuadorian banana industry. Between January and August, Ecuador exported 282.28 million 18.14 kg boxes, representing a 9.61% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Notably, August saw a record-breaking export volume of 35.19 million packages.

The forum will feature 21 technical sessions involving producers, exporters, academics, and international buyers. Key topics include satellite crop measurement, water and soil management, and logistics in the face of phenomena such as El Niño.
