Ecuador CNE qualifies candidates for 2026 sectional elections
Ecuador's National Electoral Council (CNE) has begun the qualification process for candidates participating in the sectional elections and the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control (CPCCS) scheduled for November 29, 2026. Out of 309 applicants for the CPCCS, 61 have been qualified, while 245 were disqualified for failing to meet requirements or having legal impediments.
The registration period for candidacies concludes on August 17, 2026. In the Pichincha province, three candidacies have already been approved, including Pabel Muñoz for the Quito Mayoralty.
