Ecuador: CNE prepares for elections and staff selection process

The National Electoral Council (CNE) in Ecuador is advancing preparations for the upcoming elections scheduled for November 29, 2026. In Cotopaxi, the Provincial Electoral Delegation conducted an earthquake drill to evaluate institutional response times and facility safety, involving coordination with the Ministry of Health, the National Police, the Armed Forces, and ECU 911.

Simultaneously, the Citizen Selection Commission has scheduled the written examination for the partial renewal of the CNE. The exam will take place on November 16, 2026, at 11:00 in Quito at the former CPCCS building. Candidates are required to arrive 30 minutes early with original identification. One applicant has formally withdrawn from the contest, citing concerns regarding transparency and guarantees.
