Ecuador CPCCS disqualifies candidates in Attorney General selection process
The Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control (CPCCS) has processed 19 appeals regarding the public competition to select Ecuador's Attorney General. The Plenary ratified the disqualification of 16 candidates, joining four others who were previously excluded for failing to file appeals within the legal timeframe.
A significant development in the process was the disqualification of Daniella Lisette Camacho Herold, a National Court of Justice judge who held the highest score in the merit evaluation. The CPCCS accepted an appeal to disqualify her, citing concerns regarding probity and suitability for the role.
The status of applicant Inés Maritza Romero Estévez remains pending. Six legal resources related to her candidacy have been suspended until the resolution of recusations filed against council members Andrés Fantoni and Johanna Verdezoto.
