Ecuador Health Ministry Opens 2026‑27 Rural Health Year Applications
Ecuador's Ministry of Public Health (MSP) announced the opening of applications for the 2026‑27 Rural Health Year and associated Social Service, covering the period September 2026 to August 2027. The call is aimed at doctors, nurses, dentists, obstetricians and midwives. Applicants must submit a national ID, registration of their professional degree, a certificate of passing the Professional Qualification Exam (EHEP), proof of Spanish proficiency, a valid electronic signature, a clearance to hold public office, and, for foreigners, a visa.
Registration is carried out through the Sistema de Gestión de Rurales (SGR) according to the last digit of the applicant's ID, with a daily schedule from 08:00 to 17:00 between 1 and 7 August 2026. On 8 August the list of applicants will be published, followed by the list of available positions on 9 August, detailing the health facilities, operating units, provinces and level of care. The Rural Health Year program will commence on 2 September 2026.
