Guerrero, Mexico 5.2‑5.3 quake felt across Mexico City and central states, no damage reported

A magnitude 5.2–5.3 earthquake struck the state of Guerrero on Saturday 13 June 2026 at about 12:20 local time. The epicenter was located roughly 26 km southwest of San Marcos, Guerrero, at a depth of 10 km.

The tremor was felt in the capital, Mexico City, as well as in the State of Mexico, Puebla, Toluca, Morelos (including Cuernavaca, Jiutepec, Temixco and Cuautla), and other central‑southern areas. Automatic alerts were triggered in Chilpancingo and Acapulco, but not in the capital. Authorities from the National Seismic Alert System and local civil‑protection agencies activated safety protocols, inspected infrastructure and maintained communication with municipal offices.

No injuries or major damage have been reported. Úrsula Venegas, head of the Mexico City Civil‑Protection Secretariat, said the seismic alert was not activated because "the estimated energy in the first seconds did not exceed the pre‑set thresholds." Ongoing monitoring will continue, but early assessments indicate the event caused only light shaking and no significant impacts.
