Ecuador launches digital tool to prepare for El Niño phenomenon
The Ecuadorian government has launched ‘Alístate Ecuador’, a digital visualizer designed to strengthen national preparedness and response capabilities regarding the El Niño phenomenon. Presented by Carolina Lozano, the National Secretary for Risk Management, the tool is hosted on the ‘Alertas Ecuador’ portal.
The platform provides updated information on available resources, including temporary shelters, Civil Protection volunteers, community committees, warehouses, and pre-positioned humanitarian assistance kits. It also allows users to view historical data on adverse events associated with El Niño from 2010 to 2026 and identifies high-exposure sectors based on action plans from Decentralized Autonomous Governments (GAD).
By centralizing this data, the tool aims to assist authorities, institutions, and citizens in anticipating actions and reducing the negative impacts of potential emergencies and disasters.
