Ecuador mobility platforms implement new safety and identification tools
Mobility and delivery platforms in Ecuador are implementing new measures to enhance user safety. The global mobility platform inDrive has introduced 16 security tools tailored for the Ecuadorian market. These features cover the entire trip experience, including pre-trip driver and vehicle photo verification, document checks, background reviews via Truora, facial recognition, and risk zone alerts. During trips, the app proactively monitors chats and photos for potential risks.
In Quito, the Autonomous Transit Agency (AMT), in collaboration with six delivery platforms and the Ecuadorian Chamber of Innovation and Technology, has launched a registration initiative for delivery workers. While currently voluntary, the program aims to identify approximately 4,000 delivery personnel. The system allows for the verification of licenses, vehicle plates, and documentation. Future steps include the implementation of non-transferable QR codes and photo credentials to assist in identification by the National Police and other authorities.
