Ecuadorian mobility and delivery safety initiatives

Overview

In Quito, authorities and private sector partners have launched a voluntary Digital Unique Registry for Delivery Services. This initiative, involving the Municipality of Quito, the Ecuadorian Chamber of Innovation and Technology (CITEC), and platforms such as Rappi, Uber, inDrive, and Volt Delivery, aims to register approximately 4,000 drivers to enhance security through QR code verification of identities and vehicle information.

Expanding on these safety efforts, mobility platforms in Ecuador are introducing additional security features. For instance, inDrive has deployed 16 specific tools for the Ecuadorian market, including facial recognition, background reviews, and risk zone alerts. In Quito, the Autonomous Transit Agency (AMT) is working toward future identification improvements, such as non-transferable QR codes and photo credentials, to assist the National Police during inspections.
