Ecuador opens new Centro Violeta in Chambo

The Ecuadorian government inaugurated a new Centro Violeta in the canton of Chambo, Chimborazo province, on 26 July 2026. The centre, the 17th of its kind nationwide, offers free psychological, legal and social assistance to women who are victims of gender‑based violence and coordinates with the National Police, the Attorney General’s Office and the judiciary.

Minister of Government Nataly Morillo and Chimborazo Governor María José Del Pozo highlighted the centre’s role in expanding services to urban and rural women, while President Daniel Noboa’s administration frames the opening as part of a broader strategy to strengthen a national network of safe spaces for women.

The project was equipped with an investment of US$ 25,415.23 and aims to provide timely, specialized support and preventive outreach for the local community.
