Ecuador President Daniel Noboa launches major road, dam, housing and energy projects

President Daniel Noboa toured a series of infrastructure initiatives across Ecuador. He inspected the Yambo‑Ambato road expansion, widening an 11‑km segment of the E35 from four to six lanes, introducing five grade‑separated interchanges and eight pedestrian crossings. The $104.1 million project, executed by Panavial with the Ministry of Infrastructure, is expected to serve about one million residents, cut travel times, reduce congestion and generate roughly 700 jobs.

Noboa also visited the Chiquicahua dam in Tungurahua, a water‑security project aimed at guaranteeing reliable supply for the region. In Piñas, El Oro, he verified progress on a state‑subsidized housing scheme for 100 families displaced by last year’s floods; the development comprises 14 three‑storey blocks and two four‑storey blocks, representing a $2.7 million investment and creating 274 direct and indirect jobs.

Further announcements included a new transmission line in Tanicuchí to meet electricity demand in Cotopaxi and the central‑north of the country, as well as additional investments for Tungurahua tied to its recent provincialisation. A government commission later endorsed a report highlighting these advances, underscoring the administration’s focus on infrastructure, employment and regional development.
