Ecuador President Daniel Noboa announces infrastructure projects at Guayaquil 491st anniversary

President Daniel Noboa led a solemn ceremony in Guayaquil on July 24‑25, 2026 to mark the city’s 491st anniversary. In his speech he praised the “independent soul” of Guayaquil’s residents, condemned the false use of the “madera de guerrero” symbol, and called for a government that matches the city’s aspirations.

Noboa announced specific public‑works projects, including the construction of a new segment of the Fifth Bridge in the city’s south and the creation of a park in the Monte Sinaí area. He urged unity and citizen participation to overcome crises, emphasizing that Guayaquil deserves a government that respects its identity and supports its future development.

The ceremony was attended by First Lady Lavinia Valbonesi, Vice President María José Pinto, Guayas Governor José Ignacio Arévalo, prefect Carlos Encalada, CPCCS President Andrés Fantoni, and several ministers.
