Ecuador President Daniel Noboa pushes electric substation upgrade and faces parliamentary review of his national report

President Daniel Noboa toured the Balsayán Electric Substation in the rural parish of San Andrés, confirming that construction is 75 % complete and the linked transmission line is fully installed. The $3.5 million project will boost electricity capacity to 10‑12 MVA—expandable to 20 MVA—and is expected to improve reliable service for roughly 250,000 people in Guano, parts of Riobamba and the Velasco parish.

In a separate development, the Ecuadorian Assembly will meet on 21 July to consider the president’s annual “Informe a la Nación.” The Economic Regime Commission approved the report, noting solid methodology and progress across social, economic, fiscal, security, energy and environmental goals, while a minority opposition bloc submitted a dissenting opinion. The plenary will debate the report and a proposed organic law on police security.
