Ecuador President Daniel Noboa Reduces Cabinet to Ten Ministries

President Daniel Noboa of Ecuador announced a restructuring of the executive branch that consolidates the government into ten ministries. The reshuffle follows recent resignations, including Chancellor Gabriela Sommerfeld, and merges several portfolios into three large megaministries: Development, Economic and Productive Affairs (led by Sariha Moya), Infrastructure and Technology (headed by Roberto Luque), and Labour and Human Development (directed by Cynthia Gellibert). The new cabinet also names officials for the remaining ministries: Nataly Morillo (Government), Roberto Kury (Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility), Gian Carlo Loffredo (Defence), John Reimberg (Interior), Gilda Alcívar (Education, Sport and Culture), Jaime Bernabé (Health), Juan Carlos Blum (Environment and Energy), among others, with additional secretarial roles. The reorganisation aims to eliminate duplicities, streamline administration, and signal fiscal discipline as Ecuador confronts challenges in employment, debt, and public services.
