Ecuador President Noboa's Administration Rejects Revocation Petition

The Ecuadorian Presidency submitted a 43‑page response to the National Electoral Council (CNE) on 24 June 2026, urging the body to dismiss a petition seeking to revoke President Daniel Noboa’s mandate. The request, filed by several political and social organizations led by indigenous leader Leonidas Iza and lawyer Washington Andrade, alleges that Noboa has failed to implement his government plan and neglected constitutional duties.

In its reply, the presidential legal office argued that the petition lacks the legally required specificity, citing internal contradictions and vague references to broad public problems rather than concrete, verifiable breaches. The document also pointed out that the petition’s claims about the energy crisis overlook presidential actions, such as Executive Decree 355 and budget allocations, which were intended to mitigate the shortage. The Presidency concluded that the request does not meet the standards for a revocation under Ecuadorian law and asked the CNE to reject it.
