Ecuador updates Olympic leadership and photography team selection

Ecuador is undergoing developments in both its sports administration and its professional photography community.

Jefferson Pérez has assumed the presidency of the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee (COE) following a period of institutional crisis and state intervention. On August 17, 2026, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Panam Sports officially recognized the new leadership. Pérez aims to restructure the organization, reduce external interventions, and strengthen technical autonomy to better support national athletes.

In the field of photography, the Association of Ecuadorian Photographers (AFE) has announced that August 21 is the final deadline for photographers to apply for the Ecuadorian team competing in the 2027 World Photographic Cup. Applicants can submit work in ten categories, including landscape, wildlife, and photojournalism. The selection process involves an international jury evaluating technical solidity and visual impact.
