Ecuador President Daniel Noboa pushes road upgrades, security reforms and border alliance

President Daniel Noboa has overseen a series of infrastructure projects across Ecuador. In the canton of Ambato, the municipality paved and upgraded streets in the Pilahuín parish, benefiting roughly 1,500 residents. In the province of El Oro, he inspected the rehabilitation of a 20.69‑km corridor (Palosolo‑Ñalacapa‑San Roquito‑Balsas) with a US$9.4 million investment, now 78 % complete and set to aid over 38,000 people. He also reviewed the expansion of the La Primavera road linking Machala to Puerto Bolívar, a US$20 million project that will cut travel time and serve 714,000 inhabitants. In Chimborazo, a 3.5‑km rural road (Empalme‑La Providencia) was inaugurated with a US$214,908 investment, improving connectivity for farmers and students.

In parallel, Noboa’s government issued a new National Security Plan to replace the unpublished “Plan Fénix”. The plan proposes reinstating specialized military courts to try police and military personnel, sparking debate over judicial transparency. He also announced a strategic security alliance with Colombia’s Abelardo De la Espriella to combat organized crime along the Ecuador‑Colombia border.

Additionally, Noboa outlined major public‑investment projects: a fifth bridge in Guayaquil, a new National Museum in Quito, the extension of Quito’s Metro to the Calderón area, and a renovation of the Olímpico Atahualpa stadium with a 60,000‑seat capacity built by the constructors of Spain’s Santiago Bernabéu. These initiatives are presented as part of a broader effort to boost economic growth, improve public services and enhance security nationwide.
