Ecuador vehicle accidents leave two dead and 20 injured

Two separate vehicle accidents occurred in Ecuador on Friday, October 2, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries.

In the Machala canton, specifically in the El Oro province, a passenger bus belonging to an intra-cantonal transport cooperative overturned on the El Cambio-El Guabo road near the El Portón sector. The incident occurred at 06:34. Preliminary reports indicate that 18 people were injured. Emergency services, including the Ministry of Public Health, the Fire Department, and the Transit Commission of Ecuador (CTE), responded to the scene. The injured were treated on-site before being transferred to medical facilities in Machala. No fatalities were reported in this incident.

In a separate event in the Alausí canton, a truck overturned in the Gonzol sector. The emergency was reported at 10:20. Preliminary information states that the accident resulted in two deaths and two injuries. Response teams from the National Police, Fire Department, and Ministry of Public Health attended the scene. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances to determine why the heavy vehicle lost stability and overturned.
