President Daniel Noboa confirmed that fuel prices will be reduced again in August 2026, stating the measure will ease the cost of living and that no new power outages are expected. He also clarified that the government is not seeking a new loan from the International Monetary Fund.

Noboa announced an aggressive public‑investment programme to begin in September 2026, aimed at boosting construction, agriculture and social assistance, and noted that foreign direct investment has nearly doubled to $431 million this year.

The administration requested the Consejo Nacional Electoral (CNE) to move the seccional elections forward to 29 November 2026 because of a projected strong El Niño event. The CNE approved the convocation, registering 13,827,643 voters and outlining the offices to be filled, including 23 prefectures, 222 mayors and numerous council seats. Candidate registration will be conducted online from 2 to 17 August.

Noboa also ruled out a referendum on reforms to the Consejo de Participación Ciudadana y Control Social (CPCCS) for the upcoming elections, while indicating interest in future referendums on issues such as chemical castration for child rapists and removing the priority‑group status for prisoners.
