Ecuadorian Torch March Calls for President Daniel Noboa's Revocation
On Saturday in Quito, a torch-lit march organized by the citizen platform Revoca EC pressed for the revocation of President Daniel Noboa and Vice‑President María José Pinto. Coordinators demanded that the National Electoral Council (CNE) provide the necessary signature‑collection forms, arguing that transparency is needed for the revocation process. The protest, supported by more than a hundred social organisations including the indigenous group Ecuarunari, was framed as a peaceful but firm exercise of the right to participation and resistance. The CNE has 15 days to decide on the request, after which the forms, if issued, would allow the collection of signatures required to initiate the revocation referendum.
