Ecuador's TCE admits appeal regarding Daniel Noboa revocation process

The Electoral Contentious Tribunal (TCE) in Ecuador has admitted an appeal filed by promoters seeking the revocation of President Daniel Noboa’s mandate. The appeal, presented by Leonidas Iza Salazar and Jorge Washington Andrade Escobar through the Plataforma Ciudadana para la Revocatoria del Mandato, challenges a previous decision regarding the process.

The dispute stems from the National Electoral Council’s (CNE) refusal to provide the necessary forms to begin collecting signatures for the revocation process. The CNE had previously rejected the initial request, stating that promoters failed to demonstrate a breach of the presidential work plan or a violation of constitutional obligations by Noboa and Vice President María José Pinto.

The admission of the appeal allows for a second-instance review by the TCE Plenary. While the admission does not guarantee the revocation process will proceed, a favorable ruling for the promoters could allow the signature collection phase to begin.
