Edeka shoppers can increase savings with app coupons and store tactics
Edeka, Germany's largest food retailer, operates as a cooperative of roughly 3,400 independent store owners and generated about €72 billion in revenue with over 400,000 employees. Because each store sets its own prices, promotions and coupons differ from location to location. Consumers can maximise savings by combining Edeka's own‑brand products, app‑generated coupons and hidden in‑aisle offers. The Edeka app – free for iPhone and Android – aggregates digital flyers, a shopping list and the Payback loyalty programme introduced in 2025. Coupons must be manually activated in the app; the resulting QR code is valid for only 60 minutes, so shoppers should generate it shortly before checkout. Edeka also supplies restaurants and hotels through its wholesale arm, Handelshof, meaning even meals out may include its private‑label goods.
