Edi Rama caught in Albanian Files scandal over hidden architecture book and private garden

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama is accused of authoring the foreword of a 800‑page book titled “Albanian Files,” which lists more than 500 concrete construction projects across the country. The book, previously unknown to the public, has become a focal point for protests demanding Rama’s resignation, with the premier defending himself in a podcast by claiming “the best defence is attack.”

Separately, a private garden known as “Park Eden” was installed in the prime‑ministerial compound, designed by architect Chris Precht. The project cost €4.7 million, but no record of who paid for the design exists in the state treasury, and the funding source remains unclear. Critics allege the expenditure violated budgeting laws and was not subject to public transparency. Both issues highlight concerns over alleged misuse of public funds and a lack of accountability within Rama’s administration.
