Editors announce new album Surface, Echo & Sound

The band Editors is shifting musical direction with their eighth studio album, titled “Surface, Echo & Sound,” scheduled for release in 2026. Moving away from the electronic style of their 2022 album “EBM,” the new work is described as a more organic, austere, and essentialist project.

Drummer and founding member Ed Lay noted that the decision to pivot stemmed from several factors, including the unavailability of their previous producer, Blanck Mass. The band recorded in Gloucestershire, focusing on natural instruments and a sound inspired by classic rock records. This new approach incorporates elements such as the mandolin to create a more luminous and emotional sound while maintaining the group's collective energy.
