Edo Queens FC prepares for WAFU‑B Women’s Champions League qualifiers with friendly win over FC Robo

Edo Queens FC, the reigning Nigeria Women Football League champions, staged a two‑leg Grade A friendly against fellow Premier League side FC Robo Queens at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City. The first leg ended in a 1‑0 defeat for Edo Queens, with FC Robo’s striker Ajakaye Opeyemi scoring in the 20th minute. A second leg is set for 12 noon on 7 August 2026 at the same venue, giving Edo Queens a chance to assess squad depth ahead of the WAFU‑B Women’s Champions League qualifiers in Burkina Faso later that month.

Head coach Moses Aduku said the matches help identify strengths and weaknesses, especially as six key players are absent while attending the national U‑20 camp. Edo Queens, who won the regional title on debut in 2024, aim to build on the experience and field new talent before departing for the qualifiers.
