Edo Queens qualify for CAF Women's Champions League amid protest

Edo Queens have qualified for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League after winning the WAFU-B tournament. The Benin City-based club secured the title by defeating Ampem Darkoa Ladies in a final that ended 2-2 after regulation time, with the Queens eventually winning 4-1 on penalties.

However, the Ghanaian club Ampem Darkoa Ladies has lodged a formal protest with WAFU Zone B and CAF regarding the match outcome. The club alleges that the decision to proceed directly to a penalty shootout violated CAF regulations, which reportedly required two 15-minute periods of extra time in the event of a draw. Ampem Darkoa stated that the decision was made without communicating to the team and has requested that the extra time be played or the match be continued accordingly. The club is currently awaiting a verdict from the relevant governing bodies.
