Edo Queens reach WAFU B Women’s Champions League semi-finals
Edo Queens have secured a place in the semi-finals of the WAFU B Women’s Champions League following a 3-1 victory over Côte d’Ivoire’s ASEC Mimosas. The Nigerian champions took an early lead in the 23rd minute through Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, followed by a goal from Doosuur Atume just before halftime. Although ASEC Mimosas reduced the deficit in the second half, Oluebube Umajiaku scored in the 89th minute to seal the win.
With two wins from two matches, including a previous 7-0 victory over AS Garde Nationale of Niger, Edo Queens currently lead Group B. Captain Deborah Odiagbe has cautioned against complacency, stating that winning a single match is insufficient to secure the trophy and emphasizing the need to maintain a winning mentality for the remainder of the tournament.
