Edo State Girl Rescued After Abduction; Two Suspects Arrested

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Edo State rescued a teenage girl who had been abducted and sexually assaulted in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area. The incident was reported on 19 June 2026 after a family member lodged a complaint. NSCDC operatives traced the suspects, arrested 20‑year‑old Orhiabor ThankGod and 16‑year‑old Saturday Freedom, and recovered ransom‑demand communications and a linked account. The victim was examined at the Edo State Sexual Assault Referral Centre, where a medical report confirmed sexual assault and she received treatment and counselling. The suspects remain in custody pending further investigation and court charges.
