Edo State Governor Okpebholo Appoints Adviser and Assembly Confirms New Commissioner
Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State appointed Hon. Victor Ureshemi Akande as Special Adviser on Student Affairs and Mobilization. Akande, a former senior legislative aide with experience in higher‑education policy and a background in public administration, will coordinate student‑related initiatives and strengthen the government's engagement with tertiary institutions.
The Edo State House of Assembly subsequently confirmed Hon. Martin Anayochukwu Oli as a commissioner‑designate. Oli, a businessman from Enugu State and a prominent figure in the state's Igbo community, was praised for his credentials and for the governor's inclusive approach to appointing a non‑indigene to the cabinet. Both appointments are viewed as steps toward broader representation and youth‑focused governance in Edo State.
