Edras wins €24.4 million Sapfo River flood protection contract in Maroussi, Greece

The construction firm Edras was named the provisional contractor for a major flood‑control scheme on the Sapfo river in Maroussi, part of the Attica region. The contract, valued at €24.45 million (including VAT), was awarded with a bid of only 0.29 %, and Edras was the sole bidder.

The project, financed through the EU's ESFA 2021‑2027 “Environment and Climate Change” program, aims to restore the river’s conveyance capacity and protect adjacent flood‑prone areas. Works cover the stretch from the borders of the municipalities of Amarousi and Kifisia to the entry of the Athens Tunnel, employing trapezoidal channel sections, cable‑box installations, and the rebuilding of fifteen technical structures at road intersections. The Attica Region is the contracting authority, with a 36‑month construction period after signing; if the contract is finalized by 2026, completion is targeted for the end of 2029.
