Eduardo Bolsonaro urges split from Partido Novo after Zema's criticism of Flávio Bolsonaro

Former deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro posted on X on 13 June 2026 that he would break entirely with the Partido Novo. He said the call came after Minas Gerais governor Romeu Zema, a Novo presidential hopeful, criticised Senator Flávio Bolsonaro for his contact with banker Daniel Vorcaro, the former controller of Banco Master. Zema had warned that “who walks with a criminal should be viewed with caution.” Eduardo defended his brother, writing: “In 2024 who knew who Vorcaro was? What could Flávio offer besides persecution?” and added that Zema’s attacks were motivated by personal ambition. He concluded, “For me, break with the Novo party.” Eduardo also suggested that deputy Julia Zanatta could be Flávio’s vice‑presidential pick. Flávio maintains his ties to Vorcaro continued until 2025 and that the interaction was limited to a documentary about his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro, with no illicit benefit. The dispute surfaces amid negotiations within Brazil’s right‑wing for the 2026 presidential race.
