Eduardo Paes Leads Rio Mayoral Poll with 54% First‑Round Support

A poll by Paraná Pesquisas that interviewed 1,600 voters in 60 Rio de Janeiro municipalities between June 29 and July 1 shows former mayor Eduardo Paes (PSD) at 54.2% support in a simulated first round. He is far ahead of Douglas Ruas (PL) at 14.6%, with André Marinho (Novo) at 4.9%, Wilson Witzel (Democrata) at 3.5%, Rafa Luz (Missão) at 2.2%, André Português (Republicanos) at 1.9% and William Siri (PSOL) at 1.1%. Null or blank votes total 11.8% and 5.8% of respondents said they do not know who they will vote for, giving a combined 17.6% undecided. The survey has a margin of error of ±2.5 percentage points with 95 % confidence.

The same institute’s national survey also recorded a technical tie between President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) for the first and second rounds of the 2026 presidential race, prompting Lula to criticize the Bolsonaro family’s strategy toward the United States.
