Eduardo Paes vows road work and social program support in Rio de Janeiro campaign tour

During a meeting with the ceramic industry union in Campos, Rio de Janeiro state pre‑candidate Eduardo Paes pledged to complete the stalled RJ‑238 "Estrada dos Ceramistas" project, restore public security in the Baixada Campista, and resolve environmental licensing delays. He criticized the current state administration for halting the road works that serve thousands of trucks monthly and for reducing police presence in the region.

Paes also visited Maricá, where he highlighted municipal initiatives funded by oil royalties, including free public transport, university scholarships, a local social currency, and a sovereign fund for future investments. He apologized for a past remark about the city, praised mayor Washington Quaquá, and called Maricá a model for other Rio municipalities. Emphasizing security concerns, Paes urged the future state government to adopt intelligence‑driven policing and maintain the flow of oil royalties to support such programs and the state's energy transition.

These appearances are part of Paes’ broader campaign ahead of the 2026 Rio de Janeiro gubernatorial election, positioning infrastructure completion and social investment as central pillars of his platform.
