Education Ministry to increase infant school fees in Spain

The Ministry of Education has announced an update to the official prices for infant schools serving children aged zero to three. The proposed modification includes an approximately 4% increase, bringing the monthly cost to 250.15 euros. This decision was reached in agreement with major employer associations for early childhood centers and the FSIE union.

The price adjustment will result in a 10 million euro budgetary increase for the regional government, bringing the total annual allocation for this educational cycle to 300 million euros. To support liquidity at the start of the school year, the government has committed to advancing payments to the sector in September.

Additionally, the Ministry plans to modify the 2017 decree to automate the adaptation of subsidies and grants to the new public prices, aiming to reduce bureaucracy. The new regulations will also allow for centers to set prices lower than the authorized maximum.
