Educational crises reported in schools across Peru and Argentina

Parents and educators in Peru and Argentina are raising urgent alarms regarding deteriorating conditions in public schools. In the Lima region of Peru, families at the Antonio Graña Elizalde school in Huando and the Jesús de San Graciano school in Aucallama are demanding immediate infrastructure investment. Parents report that students are using dilapidated prefabricated classrooms with cracked structures and inadequate sanitation. In Huando, cleaning efforts even uncovered snakes beneath the temporary structures. Despite previous commitments from the regional governor, funding for these approved projects has not yet been allocated.

In Catamarca, Argentina, the educational sector faces a different crisis as School No. 995 in Andalgalá struggles with severe staffing shortages. Students are attending classes only every other day due to unfilled teaching positions, including a lack of grade teachers, vice-principals, and administrative staff. This local issue coincides with broader regional unrest, including protests by the UDA Catamarca for better wages and improved facilities, as well as labor actions by university professors at the National University of Catamarca regarding salaries and funding.
