Educational initiatives address climate change through robotics and water management training

Educational initiatives in Spain and Argentina are utilizing technology and specialized training to address climate change and water management.

In Ávila, Spain, students at CEIP Comuneros de Castilla developed a robotics project titled ‘Flood Prevention in the Digital Age.’ Inspired by the DANA event in Valencia and local river rises, students used LEGO Spike Essential kits and Scratch programming to build interactive rain gauges and automated floodgate prototypes. The project aims to empower students to become agents of change through practical technological solutions.

In Santa Fe, Argentina, the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Education have collaborated to launch a pedagogical program focused on water as a common good and human right. The training provides tools to help students understand water availability, ecosystems, and the risks associated with extreme weather events like droughts and floods. The initiative seeks to integrate water management into various school curricula to promote sustainable and equitable resource use.
