Educational initiatives promote STEM and mathematics in Chile
Various educational programs in Chile are working to strengthen interest in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and calculus among students.
In Puchuncaví, the “Energía en Acción” program, a collaboration between Enex and the EdTech startup Lab4U, held its second annual science fair and STEM talks at Colegio La Greda. The initiative aims to foster scientific curiosity and gender equity in STEM fields. The program currently benefits 140 students, including 62 girls, and provides teachers with technological and pedagogical materials to connect classroom learning with real-world scenarios.
Additionally, the Universidad de La Frontera (UFRO) hosted the sixth edition of its Calculus Olympics. The competition brought together approximately 100 high school students from various regions, including Punta Arenas, Viña del Mar, Santiago, Chillán, and Valdivia. Organized by the Mathematics Pedagogy department, the event has grown from participating schools in its early years to involving roughly 25 schools nationwide.
