Educational paradigms shift toward emotional and artistic integration

Educational perspectives are shifting toward a focus on the present and the integration of emotional and creative intelligence. María Acaso, a researcher at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and former director at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, advocates for a rehumanization of schooling. Her approach, including the “Método Placenta,” emphasizes using art as a transformative tool and moving away from a purely objective-based pedagogy.

There is a growing critique of the traditional rationalist and mechanistic educational paradigm, which has historically prioritized logical intelligence and certainty. This focus has often led to a dissociation between thought and feeling, contributing to student disengagement. In the digital era, the emphasis is shifting from data memorization to developing uniquely human skills such as empathy, resilience, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence.
